Chicago's Bill Kurtis joins an elite group tonight that
includes Barbra Streisand, Sally Struthers, Robert Redford and
Winona Ryder--and it's a close call whether to congratulate him or
offer our sympathy.
Kurtis gets lampooned on Comedy
Central's "South Park."
The 9 p.m. episode opens
with Eric Cartman and the foul-mouthed scamps playing something
called the "Investigative Reports" conspiracy board game.
The game, which spells the former WBBM-Channel 2 news
star's name two different ways, has Kurtis, host of A&E's "Investigative
Reports," instructing players either to deny or cover up
government involvement in such matters as AIDS and UFO landings.
Actually, it's the most tasteful part of an unusually
unfunny * 1/2 episode that's more offensive than most, what with
pedophilia, all manner of illness, morning-after abortion pills and
a theme park ride called "The John Denver Experience."
(Well, OK, that's funny.)
When told of his
inclusion, Kurtis laughed.
